“Princess horse riding” is owned and managed by Maharajkumari Meenakshi Devi Of Mysore former member of Social Welfare Board of Karnataka, daughter of Late His Highness Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Maharaja of Mysore. The Late Maharajas of Mysore were excellent polo players and held lots of polo matches in the Bangalore Palace Polo Grounds. The Fox Hunting Meets held at the Fern hill-Palace, Ooty (Niligiri) were well known.
Since 1999 successful and popular Horse horse riding have been organized in Mysore attracting riders from the USA, Ireland, UK and Germany who have all expressed their delight and satisfaction. The horse riding start in the charming city of Mysore and meander through villages, temples & monuments in and around Mysore. Mysore City was the capital of the princely state 'Mysore' during the period of the Wadiyar Dynasty. It is a city of palaces and is famous for silk and sandalwood. One can visit Mysore during the famous Dasara festival that takes place during the months of September or October every year. The city is illuminated with coloured lights during this time. It is a city of art and architecture. Expert horsemen select the routes. They pass through some of the finest un-trodden terrain that Mysore has to offer. En - route one can see lakes, riverbeds, bird sanctuaries, waterfalls, ancient temples that represent the rich cultural heritage and the flora & fauna of Karnataka. The horse riding provide an opportunity for tourists to come closer to the local people and peep into their culture, customs, way of life and other rituals that are not possible for the normal tourist to experience. We operate between October and March when Mysore is at its best. If you choose to ride any other time we will gladly custom design an itinerary for you. The grooms accompany the ride traveling in jeeps to meet the riders every 10-15 km to take charge of the mounts while the riders refresh themselves from the complimentary ice box. The grooms take care of the horses feeding, brushing, saddling, unsaddling etc. The riders before the start of the horse riding should sign a indemnity bond & undertaking.
